Why Monument Sees Mice So Early

Monument sits close to 7,000 feet at the top of Monument Hill, and fall arrives here a couple of weeks before it reaches central Colorado Springs. When the nights turn cold, mice living in the scrub oak, greenbelts and open space behind many neighborhoods start looking for warmth.

They usually find it in the garage first. From there they move into storage rooms, under kitchen cabinets, into wall voids and up into the attic. Common signs are droppings along the garage wall, chewed boxes or bags of birdseed, shredded insulation, and quiet scratching at night.

We handle mouse control for homes across Monument, Palmer Lake, Woodmoor and Gleneagle, and we make it easy: you text, we price, we book. Many families pair it with our quarterly pest and rodent plan to stay ahead of next season. We're running a winter promo right now, so text us for today's price.

Through the Year

The Monument Pest Year

October to February: Mouse season. Homes that back up to open space or trees tend to see activity first.

March to May: Voles and gophers show their work as the snow melts, and ants become active.

June to September: Wasps and yellow jackets build under decks and eaves. Spiders peak in late summer.

September: The best time to get a rodent plan in place before the first cold snap.

Before We Arrive

Simple Steps for Monument Homeowners

Start with the garage. Keep the door closed at night, check the bottom seal for gaps, and move birdseed, grass seed and pet food into sealed bins. Most Monument mouse problems begin in the garage.

Walk around the outside of the house and look for gaps around pipes, dryer vents, AC lines and where the siding meets the foundation. Anything about the size of a pencil is enough room for a mouse. Trim back shrubs and scrub oak touching the house.

If you already see droppings, don't sweep them dry. Wet them down first, wear gloves, and wipe them up. Deer mice are common up here, and a careful cleanup matters. Then call or text us and we'll take it from there.
